I am a recently engaged, second-time bride. I love my fiance and I'm also the mother of two wonderful little men. I love sports, food, and now...yes, I love excercise. My motto is "show your true self, everyday." Come with me on my DIY wedding journey. I can't promise it won't be rocky, but it will be fun!

The great weight debate

Many brides become very weight conscious once they begin planning their big day.  Some have this unrealistic idea of what they should look like when they're walking down the aisle. I'm not talking about those brides liking to lose 5-10lbs...I'm speaking of the more extreme cases.  Buying a size 6 gown when you are clearly a size 16, resorting to extreme diet plans and exercise schedules and even those going as far as surgery.

I admit that I am a weight conscious bride.  I've dealt with fluctuating weight since my first child was born in 2002. I've tried fad diets but the only one that has shown me any success is weight watchers.

I'm saying this as I'm waiting on a meeting to start after returning back with my tail in between my legs. The scale was a lot more forgiving than I thought it would be. I'm up 0.6lbs after falling off the weight wagon 2 months ago.

I've got 10.6lbs to lose to hit my goal weight (which is realistic if I stick with it).

Now...saying all of this, I'm NOT the bride to purchase her dress several sizes too small. My dress, which has already been purchased, fits me today. If I have to get it taken in, that's a bonus!

So, one more thing for me to keep up with.

Stick with me!
